In overseas sales and end user modification of motorcycle LED headlights, many lamp failures are not caused by poor product quality, but stem from misunderstandings of voltage parameters. Clearing up these common industry misconceptions helps buyers guide end customers and reduce after sales disputes.

First misconception: If a 12V headlight fails quickly, it must be low quality.

In fact, most drivers for 12V fixed voltage LED headlights have a maximum tolerance of 16V. Once the vehicle rectifier ages or malfunctions, output voltage may surge above 17V. Voltage spikes burn out the lamp rapidly. The real cause lies in faulty vehicle rectifier instead of defective headlights.

Second misconception: Wide voltage headlights fit motorcycles with original AC headlights.

Wide voltage only covers DC input range. These lamps still require direct current power. AC input will trigger flickering when accelerating. An AC DC converter module is still indispensable; wide voltage lamps cannot fix AC circuit problems.

Third misconception: For a 60V e bike battery, simply buy a 60V rated headlight.

A fully charged 60V battery can reach 67V. The lamp’s rated voltage range must cover the peak voltage of fully charged batteries. Otherwise, the headlight may burn out while riding with full battery power.

Fourth misconception: Headlights with equal power rating can be used interchangeably.

Voltage compatibility comes first during modification. Mismatched voltage will damage lamps even if power figures match.

Export sellers may add these notes to product descriptions. Remind customers to inspect vehicle rectifiers, confirm power supply types and check battery peak voltage rather than only focusing on power rating. Proper guidance lowers return rates and improves product reputation.
