Matching the socket type alone is not sufficient for motorcycle headlight replacement. Bowl structure, material, voltage‑power rating and LED lighting characteristics greatly determine final installation performance. Export buyers mastering these practical tips can reduce after‑sales issues such as poor beam pattern and burnt‑out lamps caused by improper modification.

Physical Differences & Power Considerations

Even with identical socket models, headlight bowl depth varies across vehicle models. Direct replacement may result in misaligned beam patterns. H4, HS1 and H17 are all three‑prong sockets with similar appearances. However, their prong spacing, grooves and center‑contact offsets differ physically and are not interchangeable. Always match according to original lamp specification instead of visual judgement.
